No Stamping Required!

Pin It Now! I can't believe that it's Memorial Day weekend already! We were extremely busy for a couple of weeks moving into a different house & the month of May has disappeared! Before we moved I got busy & made all the cards that would need to be mailed from May 1st - July 31st. I felt so good having everything done ahead of time; I even put them all together in a large craft keeper with a book of stamps. Well, in my eagerness I completely forgot all about GRADUATION; it never crossed my mind. There have been 3 graduates that have been brought to my attention so I've had to scramble to get their cards made. The first one was for our sister-in-law who graduated from nursing school; I needed it NOW & forgot to take a picture before I mailed it. :( A very close friend of ours also graduated from nursing school last night & I wanted to see if I could incorporate some medical stuff on his card. I found a template online for a shirt & here is what I came up with:

There is NO STAMPING on this card! *gasp* I  printed out the shirt template on a piece of Pacific Point card stock & cut it out. The stethoscope is all paper pieced & drawn by hand. Once that was done I hand drew the pocket onto a scrap of Pacific Point. I laid it all out the way I wanted it first & then glued the pocket down so that the stethoscope ended up on top. After the scrub top was put together I used several dimensionals to put it on the card front. I then added the stitching around the collar & pocket using a white gel pen. The edges of the card were sponged with Basic Gray classic ink. This is what the inside looked like:

This was made using My Digital Studio. It was trimmed down & the edges were sponged in Basic Gray. I am very happy the way this card turned out; I wish I did this one for my sister-in-law too! Maybe I'll make one & send it to her just because... ;)

May Flowers!

Pin It Now! That's the theme for this week's challenge over at SU-Only Challenges. The card I made is a birthday card but you could use this for any occasion. Just imagine all the beautiful color combos you could use!

For the card base I chose Shimmery White card stock; not sure how well it showed up in the picture. I also used a 4 7/8" x 3 1/4" piece of Shimmery White for the top layer & ran it through the Big Shot using the small polka dots from the Backgrounds Texturz Plates. I wrapped a piece of Daffodil Delight taffeta ribbon around the bottom third of the layer & adhered it to a 5" x 3 3/8" piece of Basic Black card stock. I stamped the sentiment from the set "All Holidays" using the Daffodil Delight classic ink. I adhered this entire layer to the card base & then ran some Poppy Parade card stock through the Big Shot using the Floral Fusion sizzlets die. I layered each flower & put a black brad in the center to hold them together. I put a glue dot in the center of each flower & positioned them on the ribbon.
Now how quick & simple was that!? Because it was so quick & easy I actually made up several to have on hand, all with different color combos: Blushing Bride, Perfect Plum, & So Saffron; Marina Mist & So Saffron just to name a couple. ;)
Thanks for stopping by & I hope you all have a great day! Take a minute to enjoy all the beautiful flowers today ;)

It's a Girl!

Pin It Now! No there is no new baby here! Some friends of ours had their first baby late Thursday night & we got to see her Friday. Since I just got my computer hooked up & running I wanted to share with you the adorable card I made for them. It was quick & easy to put together & I actually made up several to have on hand. It seems like we know of a lot of babies that will be born between now & Christmas so I wanted to be prepared. I also made up several baby boy cards too that I will share another time ;) Well, are you ready to see the sweet card?

How stinkin' cute is that!? The go-to set I grabbed was "Baby Bundle" & I just stamped the buggy onto some water color paper using black StazOn. The Stamp-a-ma-jig came in handy for the bear & the booties. Before I stamped the bear I covered the buggy with a piece of scrap paper so his little legs didn't show. I grabbed my Aqua Painters along with Blushing Bride, Soft Suede, & Basic Gray classic ink pads to color everything. I sponged the edges with Early Espresso & put it on a piece of Blushing Bride card stock. I took a piece of Early Espresso card stock 3" x 4" & ran it through the Big Shot using the small dots design on one of the plates from the Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates. I cut the piece in half so I had two pieces measuring 1 /2" x 4" each. I then cut a piece of Blushing Bride designer series paper measuring 2" x 4". I wanted to wrap my Very Vanilla satin ribbon around just the background  panel & not the entire card front so here's a TIP: cut a piece of scrap paper slightly smaller (3 3/4" x 4 3/4") & adhere the 3 panels to that to make sure you've lined them up properly. This way you have created a sturdier panel to wrap your ribbon around since you had 3 separate pieces. Take your Very Vanilla satin ribbon & tie it onto the panel you created. Use Snail to adhere this panel to the Blushing Bride card front & pop up the main image on dimensionals. Voila! Wasn't that quick & simple? I hope you enjoyed the post today. I really love how the colors work so well together. Have a great day & I'll see you back here soon.

Happy Mother's Day

Pin It Now! Here is a quick & easy card to help celebrate Mother's Day. It is CASed from the one in the catalog on pg. 50; I just changed the colors basically.

The colors used here are Perfect Plum, Blushing Bride, & Very Vanilla. There is also a little bit of Sahara Sand for the border. It may be a little hard to see but the flower image is stamped onto the card base using versa mark. The border was punched out of Sahara Sand card stock. The stamp set used was "Messages for Mom". This card went together so quick & easy! With all the different messages in the stamp set this card could work for birthday or just because.

I want to wish all you mother's a very Happy Mother's Day this weekend. My mom & I live too far apart for me to see her but I know we'll at least talk on the phone. She's a simple stamper, too, & since she reads my blog I can't show you the card I made for her ;) So "No, Mom, This is not the card that should be arriving in your mailbox soon." :) See? No spoiler here! :)

On a personal note: We're in the process of moving to a different house & I don't know when I'll be able to post again. I know I don't post daily now *wink* however I'm not sure how soon I'll get to post again. If I was more prepared I could have had some things set up to post while I'm busy; unfortunately things are moving a bit faster than I thought (that or I'm slower than I thought...) Anyway, I hope to be back by next Friday but please hang on & don't give up on me. :) Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Now I'm off to the new place to unpack some more so I can come back & pack again. One of the pros to moving to a different house in the same town versus a whole different town/state. ;)
