Sneak Peek from the new Holiday Mini

Pin It Now! The new mini, available September 1st, is amazing! I haven't been this into a mini in quite awhile; like I'm talking about wanting (almost) everything in it!!! :) There's been one particular stamp set that I couldn't wait to play around with but once I got it I wasn't sure what to do; I didn't want to use traditional Christmas colors. No, I don't mean pastels or outrageous color combos but not the obvious reds & greens either. My first card made with the new "The Sounding Joy" set didn't turn out exactly like I pictured it my head but I think it turned out nicely anyway. What do you think?

I chose River Rock textured card stock for the card base & a layer of Bravo Burgundy. The burgundy layer was first cut to 4" x 5 1/4" before I used the Scallop Trim Border punch on the top & bottom edges. I used some Smooch Spritz (Vanilla Shimmer) & sprayed that over the Bravo Burgundy piece. Once that was dry I added Chantilly ribbon, tied a knot & then used Sticky Strip to adhere it to the card base. On a 3" square  piece of Very Vanilla I stamped one of the images from "The Sounding Joy" in River Rock. Over that I stamped another image using my Bravo Burgundy Craft Ink spot & embossed it with clear embossing powder. I sponged the edges with River Rock to give it a little punch then popped it up on dimensionals on the burgundy layer. On the inside I added a piece of 5" x 3 1/2" Bravo Burgundy & then stamped a sentiment from the same set in Versa Mark & embossed it with the new Pewter embossing powder.

This wasn't I had originally had pictured in my head but I like it just the same ;) I am quite pleased with the colors, too :) I am working on another project or two to share with you this week so stay tuned! :) Hope you're having a terrific week! :)
