Is it Easter yet?

Pin It Now! Today I'd like to share an Easter card with you. Easter is still several weeks away but it's never too early to get some projects done :) 

I inked up the grass from the set "Inspired by Nature" with Pear Pizzazz & stamped off onto Very Vanilla to get the shaded effect of the grass. On a piece of water color paper I stamped the little chick from the set "A Good Egg" with black StazOn & colored him in using the Daffodil Delight & Pumpkin Pie (for his beak) markers & a blender pen. For his shell I used the Bashful Blue marker & blender pen.I don't know if you can see it very well but I covered his shell in Crystal Effects to give it a shiny look. While this was drying I used the other decorative images from the same set ("A Good Egg") & stamped them onto Pear Pizzazz, Regal Rose, & Perfect Plum card stock. Using the 3/4" x 15/16" oval punch I punched these out to create eggs. Once the egg shell was completely dry I popped the chick up on dimensionals on a layer of Bashful Blue & attached this to the vanilla base with Snail. I inked up the sentiment from the same set using the Perfect Plum marker & stamped it directly on the vanilla base.  Before putting the entire vanilla layer onto the Bashful Blue card base I used the Ticket Corner punch on all four corners. Once this was attached I put the bottom egg in the grass using Snail & popped up the other two eggs using dimensionals. In the photo I added a small dot in each corner with the Perfect Plum marker but after the fact I decided to add some of the Basic Pearls. Of course I forgot to take a picture of those! This week has been busy! My mother-in-law flew in last Friday & was able to be here with us when my husband returned home from a 6 month deployment to Iraq! He got here late Monday night & she had to leave yesterday morning. Our kids have been on spring break this week too so we've had a house full! The card I'm sharing with everyone today is one of my new favorites to do.

The card base is So Saffron with a Basic Black layer on top of it. I stamped the image from the set "Elements of Style" randomly a few times in StazOn on Whisper White. On a separate piece of Whisper White I stamped the image again & colored part of the image using my Aqua Painter & So Saffron & Certainly Celery ink pads. I punched the colored image out with the 1 1/4 inch Circle Punch & adhered it with Snail. I adhered this top layer to the black piece with Snail. I used a piece of 5/8 inch grosgrain ribbon (Basic Black) & wrapped it around the bottom third of the card. This entire layer is put on using dimensionals. The sentiment is punched with the new Decorative Label punch.  To create the So Saffron background to the sentiment I used the same punch & cut out the center & used Snail on the edges to create a frame. This is on dimensionals on the ribbon. Happy Birthday!

Pin It Now! Today is our youngest is 4 years old! It's amazing how time goes by so incredibly fast! Part of me misses having a baby around, however I'm so glad those days are behind us, too ;)  I'm sure I'll feel the slightest yearning for another baby once his first day of school rolls around but I know that feeling will pass lol. Anyway, for today's post I wanted to share one of the birthday cards the ladies made at my recent Stamp Camp.

 The card base is Not Quite Navy & I stamped one of the images from the set "Circle Circus" on the edges. I sponged the edges of the Very Vanilla Top Note (made using the Big Shot) with Not Quite Navy ink. The cupcakes were made using the punch in the Occasions Mini called "Build a Cupcake". I don't know if you can see it but I used Crystal Effects on the cherry to make it shiny. The sentiment is from a set also in the Occasions Mini called "Create a Cupcake" & I used Not Quite Navy ink. The cupcake "wrappers" are from the In Color Designer Series paper pack (the Poppy Parade). The "frosting" is Crumb Cake card stock with the sprinkles stamped in Chocolate Chip (also from the "Create a Cupcake" set"). On the inside is "Happy Birthday" from the set stamped in Not Quite Navy & punched out with the Modern Label punch. Thanks for looking & hope you have a good day!

Pin It Now! For my post today I've decided to share on of the spring/Easter cards we did at the stamp camp over the weekend. I've been in a springy mood for awhile now since the temps have been 70's + for over a week already & it's suppose to get over 80 today!

 

For this card I ran the card base through the Big Shot using the new Framed Tulips Embossing Folder. I used a small strip of the Blushing Bride paper from the pack of In Color Designer Series paper. The main images are from the set "Easter Blossoms" & stamped in black StazOn directly onto a piece of Blushing Bride card stock. I used the Blushing Bride marker & colored in the blossoms on the tree & the eggs in the basket for a bit more "pop" of color. Using a white gel pen I added centers to some of the blossoms. This main layer is adhered to a piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock & put on the card using dimensionals. I don't have a picture but the inside of the card has "Happy Easter" from the same stamp set stamped with Pear Pizzazz & the egg (from the same set) is stamped in Blushing Bride. This was a very quick & easy card to put together; it may be my Easter card this year :). PPA84 this week is an inspiration challenge: Spring/Easter. Weddings on my mind

Pin It Now! This week I have been busy working on invitations for a friend's upcoming wedding this summer so I don't have anything new to share today. However, I would like to share with you the wedding invitation I did for my cousin's wedding last September. Their colors were champagne & hot pink so I used Sahara Sand for the base & used the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder. I added a layer of Melon Mambo & used the Scallop Trim Border punch. The invitation was printed on Very Vanilla before I stamped the large flower from "Wedding Sweet" using Melon Mambo ink. The RSVP card went inside the pocket & the hotel information was adhered to the front of the pocket.. These were the very first wedding invitations I ever did & I am very pleased with the way they turned out; the bride & groom loved them, too :)  This weeks Pals Paper Arts challenge (PPA82) is to use scallops on your project so I think this "old" project may qualify, what do you think?

"You'll be missed"

Pin It Now! What crazy weather we've experienced in the past 2 weeks! We had zero degree temps the first few days in Feb. & now today we're suppose to see close to 80 degrees for the second day in a row! Can ya believe it!? I've actually had the heat turned off for the past few days; it feels wonderful! :) Now I just pray the weather doesn't get crazy again... :)

Last week a friend of mine asked if I would make a card for a co-worker that was leaving for a different job. I knew the card would be from the entire staff at the clinic so I decided to make a large card to accommodate all their signatures. I took a piece of Very Vanilla & ran it through the Big Shot using one of the Texturz Plates (sorry it doesn't show up that great in the photo). I layered that onto the Early Espresso card base. On a second piece of Very Vanilla I embossed one of the trees from the set "Lovely As a Tree" (this set has been around forever & it a definite must have; great for all occasions & masculine cards!). I first inked it with Versa Mark & then immediately inked it in Chocolate Chip before stamping it. I was then able to use some Clear emboss powder & ended up with a brown tree. I adhered the image on a piece of Early Espresso. It seemed to be missing something so I added some brads. I was able to line them up nicely using the Mat Pack & Paper-Piercing Tool (all from Stampin' Up!). I created the sentiment using My Digital Studio & printed out on Very Vanilla. I used the Curly Label punch to punch it out & then sponged the edges with Early Espresso. I adhered that to the bottom of the Early Espresso layer before popping the whole thing up with dimensionals. I also added 2 pieces of Very Vanilla card stock to the top & bottom on the inside so all the signatures would show up. I did learn that the recipient really liked it & so did all the other co-workers so I accomplished my goal :) I hope you all have enjoyed the project for today. I'm off to finish a project for the next Stamp Camp!

Because I Care

I found out yesterday some close friends of ours suffered a miscarriage & immediately wanted to create a card for them to let them know we're thinking & praying for them. I hadn't used the hostess set "Because I Care" in awhile so I dusted it off & started to create.This was cased from a gorgeous card from Tina who posted it on our demonstrator website. I did change mine up a bit though but I think it turned out beautifully. I first stamped the hydrangea with Jet Black StazOn on Whisper White card stock. Using Aqua Painters & Cherry Cobbler ink I colored the entire image. When it was completely dry I used a Blender Pen & some more Cherry Cobbler to darken the shadows. I used a Blender Pen & Certainly Celery on the leaves first & then added Old Olive with a Blender Pen to darken them.. I carefully cut out the entire flower & set it aside. I measured in from all 4 sides of the Whisper White piece of card stock 3/4" & with a pencil lightly drew a frame. I then added large post-it notes around the frame. With a sponge inked with Crumb Cake I sponged the inside of the frame I created with the post-its. After doing that it occurred to me that I could have just as easily cut out a frame to create a mask; live & learn I guess! lol I then stamped the sentiment from the same set with the StazOn & then used my 2-way glue pen & glued the flower to the paper. I didn't think the hydrangea looked like it had enough depth to me so I used the small tip of the Cherry Cobbler marker & darkened the shadows some more. To make it really pop I used my white gel pen to add some centers. Before adhering the panel to the Early Espresso card base I wrapped a piece of 1/8" Early Espresso taffeta ribbon & tied a simple knot. Once the panel was in place I added 3 tiny pearls to it. I am very pleased with the way it turned out & it went together fairly quickly. I hope you enjoy it & have a wonderful weekend.
